We started with a base of Wild Salmon Oil which is rich in omega oils for healthy skin and a glistening coat. The eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) in salmon oil has anti-inflammatory effects, while the docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) has recently been found to increase mental concentration in puppies and aid their brain development. Salmon oil also helps with tissue repair, maintains reproductive healthiness, and is considered an excellent nutrient for heart health. Its taste is a turn-on to most, if not all pets. Wild caught salmon are free from the toxins found in farm raised salmon, so you are off to a great start with this supplement.

To the salmon oil, we added the all important, full spectrum plant digestive enzymes. Enzymes are organic chemical catalysts that run our pets’ bodies, determining how well they absorb nutrients from food, how oxygen is brought to the cells and tissues and the cleansing functions of the gut and liver. A lack of enzymes can cause serious digestive problems, as well as liver problems.

Lactobaccilus Plantarum- fights against bacterial infections by preventing bacteria from adhering to internal walls.

Bifidobacterium Thermophilum is a helpful colonizer after any change in pH. It stimulates lactic acid production.

Bifidobacterium Longum colonizes after a pH shift allowing better fluid and nutrient transfer through the intestinal walls. It also inhibits growth of colon, liver and mammary tumors.

Enterococus Faecium synthesizes B-Vitamins.

Bacillus Subtillus reduces nitrates, and stimulates the growth of the enzymes amylase, protease and lipase.

Inulin is a botanical prebiotic that stimulates the growth of intestinal bifidobacteria, the "good bacteria" to help maintain the health of the gastrointestinal tract. It also works to maintain the concentrations of both calcium and magnesium in the colon to protect against bowel disorders and colon cancer, and has anti-tumor effects.

Choline is not technically a vitamin, it is a nutrient that is important for lipid transport, helps repair cell membrane damage, and is a precursor to acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter in the brain involved in muscle control, memory, and many other functions. Acetylcholine is the neurotransmitter which is damaged by many pesticides widely used in our environment and allowed as residue on our food.

Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) has been used in oriental medicine for thousands of years. Recent studies suggest reishi has beneficial action in treating diabetes mellitus, anti-tumor effect, and high blood pressure. In Japan, it is used as cardiotonic to treat circulatory problems. It has some anti-allergenic properties because it inhibits release of histamine which causes the body’s allergic reaction.

Maitake- (Grifola frondosa) is another mushroom used medicinally in oriental medicine as a dietary supplement that may significantly benefit overall health. Various components in the maitake have tumor inhibiting effects, help lower blood sugar glucose levels (diabetes), and enhance immune system function.

Agaricus (Agaricus blazei). These innocuous morsels have medicinal effects. Agaricus has antibacterial effects, supports the liver, aids diabetes, and has anti-tumor effects and anti-cancer properties.

Coconut Oil may not be the most popular oil for humans but for dogs, it is wonderful. It helps regulate thyroid function, fights immune diseases, is anti-viral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal (giardia); helps an animal to destroy lipid coated viruses and various pathogenic bacteria. Coconut oil is a digestive aid, especially important for inflammatory bowel disorders. Nicotinic Acid (dog formula) or niacin is a B vitamin required by all living cells and is used in more than 40 biochemical reactions. Fennel is beneficial in fat digestion, controls
intestinal gas, promotes liver function, stimulates the pancreas and spleen, while aiding the kidneys. It has been used to increase lactation after birth and to relieve chest and nasal congestion.

Zinc Chelate is a trace element needed for proper growth, protein metabolism, reproductive health and wound healing. Zinc is necessary for the activity of more than 100 enzymes in the body and is a coenzyme in many antioxidant activities. Some breeds of dog can suffer from zinc deficiency.
